Write a Melody. The page heading in my Junior Choir quarterly caught my attention. My year of piano lessons and my church music director gave me the little bit of know-how I needed to write a few measures of melody on the page. There. That was easy. Soon I was composing short "theme songs" on the piano for all of my friends. As my talent developed over the next few years I realized that the gift of music was a great means for expressing my feelings and my faith.
After studying music at Wake Forest University, I went on to be a church music director for 20 years where I learned a practical side to writing for church choirs. Currently serving as "Composer-in-Residence" and Pianist for Green Street United Methodist congregation in Winston-Salem, NC, I continue to compose, usually inspired by some special need or in response to experiences I have had. Friends have frequently asked how to purchase my music. Now, I have a place to refer them! Also, over the years many of my compositions and arrangements have been published in print form, but are now out of print. On this website, I would like to share some of them with you to download for free, as well as make my newer pieces available for purchase and download.
I'm always interested to know where and how the pieces are used, so if you take the time to send an email to let me know, I would be grateful.
Thanks for browsing around!

The storefront for the MaxEmum Music website is reminiscent of the Five and Ten store my father ran for nearly forty years in Bassett, Virginia. The MaxEmum Music Store only exists in the cyber world. The scales in front are exactly like the ones he had in front of his store. (My brother, sister, and I used to sort through and count the pennies.) The beagle is in memory of our dog, Thoreau, who was part of our family for more than 10 years.
If you plan to copy the pieces for your choir use, please purchase a license which allows you to make up to fifty copies, legally!
